While members of Body and Soul have graced stages all over the United States, they have found a special place in the Triangle area of North Carolina. Whether it’s a small intimate venue or a larger stage, Body and Soul’s presence is felt and cherished by all who hear their captivating music.
Caroline Gregory, vocalist, performs at corporate, civic and private events, and retirement communities throughout Wake County. She also sings with Body and Soul and Table 5 Jazz. As a former member of a gospel group she has sung on the Ryman Auditorium stage in Nashville, TN, at Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA, the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, CA, Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL, and abroad in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Santiago, Chile. Caroline enjoys providing tasteful, high quality, and uplifting music for all occasions. Her special passion is singing the Golden Classic Songs of Yesteryear.
John Morrison, trumpeter, has played with the Atlantic Brass Quintet, various theater companies, many wedding and event bands, and for 25 years was a member of the St. Peter’s Orchestra by the Sea, concertizing in the NY Metro area. In NC he plays for Gregg Gelb’s Heart of Carolina band, solo chair for Henry Mason’s Revelers, and with the Raleigh Symphony. As a longtime member of the NJ based Funny Factory he played at private events for Rupert Murdock, and for the king and princess of Morocco.
Jeff Crouse is a percussionist with a passion for music, performing, and teaching. He has a BA in Performance from Virginia Tech and a Masters in Studio Jazz Drumming from the University of Miami. Jeff has been fortunate to study with great musicians including Howard Curtis, Dr. John Floyd, Chip McNeil, Steve Bagby, and Steve Rucker. He enjoys performing in groups led by Gregg Gelb, Ed Paolantonio, Paul Bomar, and Michael Pelz-Sherman.
Greg Brink, pianist, has studied at Capital Conservatory, Ohio University, with Julliard trained Pat Pace, and locally with Ed Paolantonio. He has performed extensively with traditional and contemporary big bands, small combos, and as a solo pianist.His NC playing credits include performing with Ray Codrington, The Moonlighters, Swing Street, The Raleigh Jazz Orchestra, and The Carolina Moondogs.
Gene Barrio, plays double bass/bass guitar in many groups- jazz, rock, classical, and blue grass. He was a studio player in L.A., playing for Vicki Carr, Dionne Warwick, Crystal Gayle, and Little Anthony. He toured and recorded with the fusion jazz band Aurora Borealis. He has done extensive work in Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada. In NC Gene is a busy performer. He was a longtime house band member at C Grace and is now at the Niche Wine Lounge. He also plays regularly at the Umstead Hotel and with the West Street Band playing classic rock.
